World Disability Awareness Day activities started in Izmir
With the vision “Another disability policy is possible” of Metropolitan Mayor of Izmir Tunç Soyer, a series of events will be held in Izmir from December 3 to 1 as part of “World Disability Awareness Day on December 11 “.
The Izmir Metropolitan Municipality is organizing awareness activities from December 3 to 1 as part of “World Disability Awareness Day December 11”. In line with the vision of Tunç Soyer, the mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, who reinforced the goal of Barrier-Free Izmir with the understanding of “Another Disability Policy is Possible”, disability awareness will spread in the city with a series of activities from sports to art, from concerts to panels by the Directorate of the Directorate of Services for People with Disabilities under the Directorate of Social Projects.
Presentation of the Guide Dogs application
The first of the activities to be held with the slogan “Everyone is equal, everyone is different” will begin with the introduction of the application of guide dogs in the conference room of the Department of Social Projects Ornekkoy Campus Wednesday December 1 between 3:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. During the event organized with the Association of Guide Dogs, the place and awareness of guide dogs, the most faithful companions of visually impaired people, in society and their reflections in the lives of people with disabilities will be explained. At 5:30 p.m., there will be a screening of the Illustrated Butterflies.
Accessible meeting activities will be held at the Celal Atik Sports Hall in Kulturpark on Friday, December 3, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. As part of the program to be organized with the participation of the mayor of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Tunç Soyer, video and photo show, barrier-free sports show, boccia, table tennis, hemsball, visually impaired judo team, basketball in wheelchair and amputee football team, battery powered wheelchair football, handball, bachato dance show, Erdal Giraylar improvisation theater, wheelchair dance and waltz show, I Connect to Life with Songs and Folk project Songs, Crescent Group and concert activities.
Awareness-raising activities will continue with the screening of the film Captain Fantastic for people with disabilities on Saturday December 4 at 6:00 p.m. at the Selahattin Akçiçek Cultural and Art Center.
Panel without access
During a week where people with disabilities will have a good time, the no-access sign will meet with the residents of Izmir, in cooperation with the Municipality of Balçova and with the participation of universities, to further develop awareness. The panel will be held on Wednesday, December 8 from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the conference hall of the Izmir University of Economics.
