The National Dance Festival begins on Thursday

The National Dance Festival organized by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy will kick off on Thursday.

The three-day festival will take place at BSA’s National Theater Hall in Dhaka. The event will feature 75 dance recitals by 75 dance troupes from across the country.

The announcement was made at a press conference held at the BSA on Wednesday.

“This festival is going to be one of the biggest dance festivals in the country where 75 dance troupes from different divisions will perform with 75 new musical compositions,” BSA chief executive Liaquat Ali Lucky said.

“Promising young dance directors will have the opportunity to showcase their talent alongside renowned dance directors at the festival, which will bring together dance troupes from all over the country under one roof,” added Liaquat Ali Lucky.

The Minister of State for Cultural Affairs, KM Khalid, will be present as a chief guest and the President of the Bangladesh Dance Artists Association, Minu Haque, will be present as a special guest at the inaugural ceremony of the festival. The Secretary of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Md Asaduzzaman, will deliver the welcome speech at the inaugural ceremony, which will be presided over by the Director General of the academy, Liaquat Ali Lucky.

The opening day of the festival will feature dance performances by 15 dance troupes, namely Samina Husain Prema’s Bhabna Troupe from Dhaka, Manos Talukder’s Nrittygram Troupe from Mymensingh, Jyoti Sinha’s Manipuri Theater Troupe from Moulvibazar, Nrittyashoily troupe of Nilanjana Jui of Sylhet and others.

The three-day dance festival will end on January 22.
