The Fiesta de la Bulería de flamenco brings dance, music and culture to the Walt Disney concert hall
Coming to LA Phil on Saturday November 27 is a celebration of flamenco dance and music, led by a flamenco artist and dancer Maria bermudez. spain Buleria Festival, one of the most famous flamenco festivals, arrives in Los Angeles with 15 world famous artists – dancers, singers and musicians – all born in the birthplace of flamenco, Jerez de la Frontera in Andalusia.

With artistic director and dancer Bermudez at the helm of the program, the show includes performances by dancer extraordinary JoaquÃn Grilo; the powerful singers Jesús Méndez, Remedios Amaya, Pelé De los Reyes (Navajita Plateá) and Antonio Malena; master guitarists Diego Del Morao, Antonio Rey and Manuel Parrilla; and violinist Bernardo Parrilla. This international program is the first of its kind to occur at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Like the art form itself, flamenco has a long, complicated and intimately woven history from its origins to the way it has been viewed in Spain over the decades. The Fiesta de la BulerÃa was created in 1967 by Juan de la Plata, who at the time was President of the Chair of Flamencology and Andalusian Folk Studies. It is a celebration of the birthplace of flamenco and is named after the region’s most famous palo (bulerÃas). Bringing this richly cultural event to Los Angeles is a unique opportunity for anyone who appreciates the art form of passionate human expression.
