A new boutique music festival dedicated to dance music will launch in Northumberland next June, featuring lineup from some of the world’s best DJs.

The 3-day camping event – House of Barefoot Festival – will run from Thursday June 2 to Saturday June 4, 2022 – The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Weekend – on the grounds of a beautiful farmhouse nestled in the Northumberland countryside.

The calming, tree-lined site will host some of the biggest names in the international house scene, including tech-house pioneer Danny Howells, multi-award-winning Spain coach Henry Saiz, Bristol icon Nick Warren and Hernan Cattaneo, one of South America’s most famous DJs.

Offering camping, glamping and pitches for caravans and motorhomes, the festival promises to offer a complete festival experience. The site will feature a stage with a state-of-the-art audio system, street vendors and a number of licensed bars. Glampers will also have access to showers.

A boutique event, House of Barefoot will have limited capacity, allowing festival goers to kick back and relax while providing an intimate club-like atmosphere on its main stage.

Festival director Jonny Stobart is confident the festival will be sold out.

“We want to keep the capacity at a level that means everyone has an amazing overall experience,” says Jonny.

“We have no doubts that we will be selling and we are sure people will love the atmosphere and want to come back year after year.

“This event allows people to socialize, make new friends, enjoy a range of different styles of house music and, most importantly, dance. Our past events have brought together people of all ages, it really is all inclusive.

“That’s what it is for me; people who come together and enjoy the company of those they may never have had the chance to meet. This in itself is very, very special.

Known as “the DJ of DJs,” Danny Howells has remained stoic about the ever-changing trends and fashions in dance music since he entered the global house music consciousness in the late 1990s. He doesn’t produce productions to “stay relevant”, instead releasing music as inspiration comes.

Spanish DJ Henry Saiz is the creator of a style that combines his love for all things electronic with a deep passion for art. His music, as well as his work as a sound designer for film and television have always been marked as avant-garde in approach and revolutionary in delivery. Henry’s sound refuses to fall into a singular category, he takes influence on many different levels and incorporates it into his live and DJ sets, forging the perfect balance between Electronica, Disco, House and Techno.

Nick Warren, meanwhile, is an English DJ and record producer. He is best known as a member of electronic music duo Way Out West, his record label and global live events brand, The Soundgarden, and for his albums released in the Global Underground series.

If there’s one artist who doesn’t need to be introduced, it’s the one music lovers around the world simply call “El Maestro”. Throughout his rise to become both a foundation and a founding father of the underground house scene, the name Hernán Cattáneo has become synonymous with dedication, passion and an unwavering commitment to upholding a unique quality of music that is difficult to define, but immediately recognizable as its sound signature.

With over 30 years of DJing, 11 albums, 30 singles and 50 remixes is the legacy of a unique and powerful personal touch, he is a welcome addition to the House of Barefoot range.

House of Barefoot had its inaugural event in May earlier this year, led by Nick Warren. Following the success of its first event, the company organized another weekend in August with a focus on local talent.

Now, with the festival scheduled to return in 2022, organizers have broadened the scope and ambition of the festival as it prepares to welcome internationally renowned DJs to its outdoor stage.

Jonny added: “This will be the first time Newcastle has hosted a boutique dance music festival with some of the world’s best DJs in the lineup.”

“This is an opportunity for us to sit firmly on a list of truly special events that are not just one night out, but three days of memories. It will be an annual experience not to be missed.

Tickets go on sale Friday December 17 at 10 a.m. and can be purchased through the official festival website.
