Netflix unveils trailer for Disney star’s new dance movie


Netflix has unveiled a preview trailer for a new dance comedy Work it.

Starring Disney’s Sabrina Carpenter, the next film follows an ambitious college student who must win a dance competition to improve her chances of entering a prestigious college.

Carpenter’s character Quinn is in desperate need of more extracurricular activities if she is to get into the college of her dreams, so when she is kicked out of a competitive dance troupe, her friend Jas (Liza Koshy) agrees to help him set up a rival team.


The official synopsis for the film reads: “When Quinn Ackerman (Carpenter’s) admission to her dream college hinges on her performance in a dance competition, she forms a motley group of dancers to face the best team. from school… now she just needs to learn to dance.

Manufacturers of To all the boys who loved me and The kissing booth, the film looks set to deliver some serious Step Up vibes.

In the trailer, which you can watch above, Quinn and Jas recruit an unlikely group of artists, including a three-time competition winner choreographer, someone they found on social media, and a lookalike from Conan O’Brien who’s supposed to be good at flipping.

The cast also includes Jordan Fisher, who played John Ambrose in To all the boys: PS I still love you, as well as comedian Michelle Buteau, who plays the candid college admissions administrator.

Work it premieres on Netflix on August 7, 2020.
