London’s New Festival Risen Celebrates the ‘Divine Feminine’ in Dance Music

A new one-day festival, Risen, will take place in London on April 9.

Taking place between noon and midnight at a number of venues in Hackney Wick, the event is billed as a celebration of the “divine feminine” and “an exercise in loving vibration”. Programmed by a team of women from the local Percolate party team, the festival features a 100% non-male lineup, which you can see in full below.

Names featured on the poster include Sicaria Sound, Ambient Babestation Meltdown, Hannah Holland, Girls Don’t Sync (pictured), Club Fitness, iona, Foundation FM, Tash LC, Mina, Ifeoluwa, Mixtress, Angel D’Lite, Madame X, Eliza Rose and many more.

“Having worked for many years to help balance gender inequalities in the world of electronic music, it’s always been my dream to put together a festival that focuses entirely on that,” said Kitty Bartlett, Head of reservations and event manager. “Through working for Percolate, that dream became a reality and alongside Alice Franklin (Senior Social Strategist) and Maria Grzeszczyk (Logistics and Events Manager), a shared vision finally came to life.

“Risen is a female-led festival to shine a light on the emerging talents who work so tirelessly in the music industry, whether it’s DJs, event managers, graphic designers, lighting, etc It’s time for a new energy…”

Pre-sale tickets for Risen go live September 31, with general sales starting February 1. Register for presale tickets here.

Last year, the Hackney Wick-based Body Movements festival set a precedent for multi-site, forward-thinking events in the region. The Hackney Wick Color Factory club recently announced its new residents for 2022 and a new weekly Sunday party, Crossbreed.
