Ranchi, October 28: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said the national dance festival was an honor for educationally, socially and economically disadvantaged tribes.
Hemant Soren was speaking after opening the three-day National Tribal Dance Festival and Rajyotsava 2021 at Science College Ground in Raipur, Chattisgarh as the main guest.
“It’s not just a dance festival, but an honor for those who have been educationally, socially and economically disadvantaged. It is a message to the whole country that if we want to, this class can walk with us, ”said Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
Soren added: “Departments are created in their name, but the community is deprived of its rights and the facilities it enjoys. I also come from a tribal community. Getting here has been a big challenge for me. Even if I had not been the chief minister of Jharkhand, I would have attended this program. I wish all the artists who have come here the best.
The chief minister said the tribal dance festival was launched in 2019. It is a unique program across the country.
“This is an opportunity to get acquainted with the tradition and culture of tribal society. Even in these materialistic times, tribal society struggles to save its civilization, culture and traditions. In such a situation, the indigenous peoples will draw energy from such events and they will be able to keep their civilization and culture intact. In addition, the exhibition held on campus will also showcase the incredible indoor potential of these classes, which is naturally associated with them, ”Soren said.
The Chief Minister commended the government of Chhattisgarh for helping these communities by providing minimum support prices for forest products.
“I believe that the country and the state can only develop when the villages prosper. The work should be done in the direction of increasing the purchasing power of the villagers and uplifting the disadvantaged, backward, poor and marginalized part of the country, ”Soren added.
The chief minister said that the girls of the tribal community of Jharkhand show their talent in the field of sports and also informed about the initiative of the government of Jharkhand by offering a scholarship of 100% to deserving tribal candidates to obtain an education. higher education in the UK. Six students have been selected under the scholarship program and are pursuing graduate studies at universities across the UK.
During the festival, a dance competition will be organized on the themes of wedding rituals, traditional festivals, harvesting rituals, agriculture and other traditional methods. Artists from Jharkhand will also participate in the competition. They will perform “Kadsa” according to the ritual method of the marriage ceremony, Oraon and Chhau dance according to the ritual of the harvest.
Over 1000 artists from seven different countries, 27 Indian states and six Union Territories will participate in the festival.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister of the Host State, Chhattisgarh, Bhupesh Baghel and Hemant Soren played traditional tribal musical instruments and took selfies.
