The Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) is one of the biggest dance music festivals in the world. Last weekend it drew over 500,000 fans to Las Vegas over a three-day period. The logistics were a bit of a nightmare, but the one thing everyone agreed was amazing was a drone light show during the opening ceremonies.

EDC is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. So, to commemorate the event, the event production company Insomniac decided to use lights, lasers, fireworks and the piece de resistance: drones.

Flying in harmony, 600 drones equipped with LEDs invaded the skies of Las Vegas last weekend. These drones created multiple formations, including the iconic EDC owl logo, a signature cathedral stage silhouette, the EDC 25-year logo, and more.

The festival shared a time lapse from the first night’s drone show on social media and gave those not attending the big FOMO:

Meanwhile, those who attended were quick to point out that the experience was even better in person.

“If you’ve never seen a drone light show in person, the photos don’t do it justice. It’s incredible,” wrote one Twitter user, while another share:

It was such an unexpected surprise to have a drone show before the fireworks last night. I was overwhelmed and I cried so loudly with joy.

On Reddit, comments ranged from, “Damn, I couldn’t handle this last night. The craziest sky show I have ever seen ”, to“ the effects they got were pretty crazy. I’ve never seen anything like it before.

Similar reactions could also be found on Facebook, with users saying, “The drone show left me speechless!” and “the drone show was to die for!” UNBELIEVABLE!”
